Playstate needs local-network access to discover supported HomePod and Sonos speakers. Last.fm sign-in is optional unless you want to scrobble.

After the trial

Once you have used 30 minutes of listening, Playstate keeps working but asks for a license every time you open it. A US$24 one-time purchase ends the prompts for good.
