Does it replace Music or the Sonos app?
Playstate is a focused controller. Keep your usual music app for browsing, starting playback, and managing services. It does not route all Mac audio to your speakers or create synchronized HomePod and Sonos groups.
Does my audio pass through Playstate?
Your audio does not pass through Playstate’s servers. Optional artwork matching may send search terms to Apple and Deezer, and licensing uses network requests. See the privacy policy for details.
Will it work with my setup?
Playstate needs macOS 15 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. HomePod and Sonos speakers need to be on the same local network as your Mac. Playback support can vary by speaker and music source, so try it with the music you usually play before buying.
Do I need Last.fm?
Only if you want to save your listening history there. The now-playing window and playback controls work without a Last.fm account.
Where is my listening history saved?
Recently played keeps the last 50 different songs observed by Playstate on this Mac. You can copy a song’s details, find it in Apple Music, or clear the list from the menu bar. This local history does not require an account.
How does the trial work?
You get every feature for 30 minutes of actual listening. The trial pauses when music stops, and no card is required. Afterward, the app keeps working but asks for a license each time you open it.
What does the license include?
A personal license covers Macs you own or control, with compatibility and maintenance updates for the current product. A future major upgrade may cost extra. The optional US$25 supporter license has the same features.
